Daily Itinerary Items

Day 1 : Fly to Colorado
We depart for "The Centennial State" on a relaxing flight to Denver.

Day 2 : Denver City Tour
This morning we join a knowledgeable local guide to discover the city of Denver. See many fascinating attractions along the way, including the Capitol building; the famous Molly Brown House Museum, former home of the famous "Unsinkable" activist and philanthropist who survived the Titanic; and the world-class stadiums of the Rockies, Avalanche, and Broncos. This afternoon takes us to Boulder's cultural heart and soul, Pearl Street Mall. Cherish the historic designs and architecture as we take time for lunch and shopping. Tonight we arrive in beautiful Estes Park where we relish a Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner with our fellow travelers. B,D

Day 3 : Rocky Mountain National Park
Spectacular scenery awaits us today as we drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Enjoy the sweeping overlooks of Trail Ridge Road as we wind across the highest paved highway in the country. Gaze in wonder at the over 12,000 foot high views of the scenic alpine tundra below and along the way make informative stops at the visitor centers. Later, we arrive in world-renowned Vail and take in the rich heritage of this famous alpine village during a free afternoon. We have accommodations at the Springhill Suites by Marriott ® in downtown Grand Junction. B

Day 4 : Colorado National Monument
This morning we enjoy a scenic drive through Colorado National Monument. Great landscapes of the American West surround us along Rim Rock Drive with views of towering monoliths, red rock canyons, and wildlife such as bighorn sheep and eagles. After our drive we enjoy an included lunch before we have free time to explore historic downtown Grand Junction. B,L

Day 5 : Silverton Train Ride
The journey to Silverton features the Million Dollar Highway with spectacular views. This afternoon we board the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and enjoy a breathtaking train ride. This classic steam-powered locomotive follows the same tracks the settlers once took through the area. Explore stunning canyons and the over two million acre San Juan Forest. Accommodations for the next two evenings are at the Historic Strater Hotel in downtown Durango. B,D

Day 6 : Mesa Verde National Park
Receive a glimpse into the lives of the ancient Pueblo people today on a guided tour of spectacular Mesa Verde National Park. Featuring nearly five thousand archaeological sites and six hundred cave dwellings, including some of the best preserved in the country, we learn about the history and culture of the fascinating people who inhabited this area from 600 - 1300 AD. We return to Durango with free time to browse and shop.

Day 7 : Royal Gorge Gondola
We continue through the majestic terrain of the mountains today and make our way through Wolf Creek Pass. At an elevation of 10,875 feet, it offers stunning views of the sweeping landscapes below. This afternoon we arrive at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Canon City. Offering 360-degree views of the surrounding scenery, we board a gondola and glide 1,200 feet above the Arkansas River. Traveling over 2,200 feet across the gorge, we marvel at unparalleled views of completely unspoiled vistas. Our accommodations this evening are in Colorado Springs. B

Day 8 : Pikes Peak & Garden of the Gods
This morning takes us to the United States Air Force Academy. We tour the Cadet Chapel, featuring 17 towering spires reaching over 150 feet into the Colorado sky, a truly iconic landmark on campus, and the Goldwater Visitor Center, offering a detailed history of the force and a look into the lives and service of the brave men and women that call this campus home. We continue to the surreal beauty of the Garden of the Gods. This National Natural Landmark offers towering sandstone rock formations set against the snow covered beauty of the mountains. Enjoy photo opportunities on our docent-led tour of this magical area. Later, we hop aboard a classic cog rail train and ascend legendary Pikes Peak. Climb over 14,000 feet into the air on the world's highest cog rail train to experience the incredible panoramas thought to have inspired the song "America the Beautiful." Tonight we gather for our Holiday Vacations Farewell Dinner. B,L,D

Day 9 : Fly Home
We fly home from Denver with memories of our wonderful time together in Colorado. B
