Daily Itinerary Items

Day 1 : Fly to San Antonio
Unpack and settle in for an enjoyable eight-night stay at the Drury PlazaHotel San Antonio Riverwalk. Holiday Vacations' guests will be surrounded by a warm and friendly atmosphere, comfortable accommodations, and a prime location.

Day 2 : City Sights
An expert local guide joins us as we visit the largest of the Texas missions, beautiful Mission San Jose. Known as the "Queen of Texas Missions," this restored National Historic Park provides a visual representation of how missions looked over 250 years ago. Our day continues as we explore San Antonio and experience downtown's authentic Mexican marketplace, El Mercado. Interact with working artists or sample local cuisine at familyowned restaurants in the largest Mexican market north of the Rio Grande. Tonight, we dine on award-winning cuisine along the charming River Walk at Biga on the Banks. Day 3 : The Alamo & River Walk Cruise
The story of the Alamo comes to life as we view "Alamo: The Price of Freedom" at the IMAX Theatre at the Rivercenter Mall. In this 45-minute docudrama, we are transported back to 1836 as the 13-day siege of the rise and fall of the Alamo is presented on the big screen. Afterwards, we visit this famous landmark which is located within the city, inside beautifully landscaped grounds. Our included lunch brings us to the historic Menger Hotel. Opened in 1859, the property is most well known for being the location Theodore Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders. Later we board a flat bottom boat for a cruise on the Paseo del Rio canal, located 20 feet below street level. Gain a unique perspective of the River Walk while the boat captain, famous for storytelling, entertains us with fascinating details of San Antonio's past. B,L

Day 4 : LBJ Ranch
Today we tour the Lyndon Baines Johnson National Historic Park and LBJ Ranch, chronicling the life of our 36th President. After lunch in Fredericksburg, a town rich in German heritage and Texan hospitality, we view World War II memorabilia at the Admiral Nimitz Museum of the Pacific. Exhibits in the 23,000-square-foot gallery tell individual stories and display personal effects of the men and women who served. B

Day 5 : San Antonio Botanical Garden and Guenther House
This morning we visit the San Antonio Botanical Garden, a beautiful and tranquil getaway in the heart of the city. A delightful lunch has been planned at the elegantly restored Guenther House located on the bend of the San Antonio River. Enjoy exploring the adjacent Museum and San Antonio River Store. B,L

Day 6 : Austin
Today we head to Austin, the state capitol. We enjoy a narrated tour of the State Capital Building.This afternoon we visit the Bullock Museum of Texas History. The museum features some of the most significant artifacts of Texas’ rich history and culture. B

Day 7 : Leisure Time
The day is at your leisure. Our hotel's location offers a terrific opportunity to stroll the tropical walkways, gourmet restaurants and rare boutique shops along the San Antonio River. You may choose to visit the San Antonio Museum of Art, the San Antonio Zoo or the Witte Museum. Your Holiday Vacations Tour Director will assist with transportation arrangements. B

Day 8 : Tour SAS Shoe Factory
This morning we tour one of the few remaining shoe factories in the U.S. and observe first-hand the craftsmanship needed to make SAS comfort shoes. We enjoy time for lunch and shopping in the La Villita historic arts village. This afternoon we visit the Institute of Texan Cultures. Exhibits tell the story of the many ethnic groups that settled in Texas. Tonight, we are treated to a delicious Farewell Dinner at Las Canarias Restaurant. B,D

Day 9 : Fly Home
It's "adios" to our wonderful Texas retreat as we travel home.
