Day 1 : Fly to Canada
Upon arriving in Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba, we check in to our hotel for a two-night stay and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 2 : Winnipeg
Our adventure begins by exploring Winnipeg with a local guide. Enjoy views of the city’s most notable attractions, including Esplanade Riel Footbridge, the French Quarter, Theatre District, The Forks National Historic Site, and more. This afternoon, we get to know fellow travelers over a Welcome Lunch before visiting the Manitoba Museum. Become immersed in the human and natural history of this province as you view galleries, interactive exhibits, and shows in the Planetarium Theatre. Later, we return to our hotel for an evening at leisure.
Day 3 : Churchill
We pack our bags and board a brief flight to Churchill today. This beautiful Arctic port town is famously known as the Polar Bear and Beluga Whale Capital of the World! After landing, we savor an included lunch and embark on a guided heritage tour of the area. We also venture north to historic Cape Merry and see the exterior of the polar bear “jail,” a holding facility that helps bears and humans live harmoniously. This evening, we settle into our cozy lodge and enjoy a group dinner.
Day 4 : Hudson Bay Cruise
Our day is spent on the only Arctic touring vessel with underwater viewing, the Matonabee, as we glide along the pristine waters of Hudson Bay, the world’s second-largest bay. This beautiful landscape is filled with Inuit villages and historic ruins of the region’s original settlers, the Thule, plus a variety of incredible wildlife. Watch for beluga whales, polar bears, countless sea birds, and maybe even seals, walruses, or caribou! Subject to change based on tides, weather, and other conditions beyond our control.
Day 5 : Beluga Whales & Fur Trading Post
Over 50,000 beluga whales call Hudson Bay home this time of year, and we’re off to see them today! Step aboard a zodiac for an exhilarating experience to discover some of the most majestic marine life to exist. Enjoy vistas of towering cliffs and unspoiled landscapes while our onboard expert guide helps us locate the distinctive white bodies and melodic calls of belugas. Later, we disembark for a guided walking tour at Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site. Nestled along the shoreline, this ruined stone fortress was once an 18th-century fur trading post. Watch history come to life as we view the fascinating interior and hear stories of exploration, trade, and conflict involving the fur traders, soldiers, and Indigenous people. Subject to change based on tides, weather, and other conditions beyond our control.
Day 6 : Tundra Tour & Leisure Afternoon
This morning, we embark on a drive through the vast expanse of the tundra for unrivaled vistas of the beautiful flora and fauna. Our specialized vehicle is an Arctic Crawler™, custom-built to provide a comfortable experience among the rugged terrain. Watch for caribou, moose, eagles, the elusive Arctic fox, and perhaps even a polar bear as our expert naturalist provides enriching commentary. After an included lunch back at our lodge, the rest of the day is yours to relax or create your own adventures! You may enjoy booking an optional excursion, such as Beluga AquaGliding™ or kayaking to experience friendly marine life up close.
Day 7 : Polar Bear Presentation
We visit Churchill Northern Studies Centre this morning, a research station for the Arctic. Enjoy a tour of the Green Building to learn about the important work this non-profit has done for nearly 50 years and take in exclusive views of its outdoor platform and indoor Aurora Dome. An expert joins us to provide a presentation on the fascinating life of polar bears, including information on individual bears and the family groups that frequent Hudson Bay. Hear about the challenges they face at various times of the year to gain a deeper appreciation for this beautiful mammal. After an included lunch, we return to Winnipeg and check in to our accommodations before celebrating our journey with a Farewell Dinner.
Day 8 : Fly Home
We return home with incredible memories of our time exploring the Arctic’s otherworldly landscapes.
