Day 1 : Fly to Massachusetts
Upon arriving in Boston, we check in to our comfortable hotel for a two-night stay.
Day 2 : Freedom Trail & Boston Tea Party
Our adventure begins with discovering Boston, steeped in America’s colonial history. We join an 18th-century historical guide for a tour of the Freedom Trail to learn about the important events that shaped the city and our country. Visit the Granary Burying Ground, where some of America’s most notable citizens rest, including Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, then see Old North Church, the site of signal lanterns that ignited the American Revolution. Enjoy lunch on your own with time to explore Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market, a National Historic Landmark. Next, we explore the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum. History comes alive as we view presentations from costumed actors, engaging interactive exhibits, and authentically restored tea ships. This evening, we get to know fellow travelers at a delicious Welcome Dinner.
Day 3 : JFK Library & Set Sail
We spend our final morning in Boston at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Watch a documentary film, then browse exhibits for insight into the Kennedy Era, with personal and historic artifacts revealing the life of JFK and his family. Later, we board Holland America’s elegant Volendam ship for a scenic seven-night cruise. Enjoy the luxurious amenities on board and all meals included, plus exceptional dining and entertainment options.
Day 4 : Portland
Our first port of call is the vibrant seacoast town of Portland, Maine. Admire its unique blend of modern and historic features as you stroll the cobblestone streets to see 19th-century architecture, lighthouses, upscale boutiques, fine art museums, and incredible culinary delights. Or simply soak up the picturesque beauty of Casco Bay along the Old Port waterfront, where fishing wharves and shops await.
Day 5 : Halifax
This morning, we dock in the capital of Nova Scotia and one of the first English cities in Canada - charming Halifax. Its vast harbor extends 16 miles inland, but this walkable city offers everything from rich culture and world-class museums to stunning seascapes as far as the eye can see. Enjoy an included excursion to the enchanting fishing village of Peggy’s Cove, followed by time to explore Halifax on your own with a hop-on hop-off bus tour.
Day 6 : Sydney
We arrive on the east coast of Cape Breton Island today and dock in Sydney, known for its metropolitan charm and small-town hospitality. The day is yours to explore the city’s 18th-century houses and churches, or you may find your adventurous side on an optional excursion to the famous Cabot Trail or Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.
Day 7 : Charlottetown
Today’s port of call is the historic capital city of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown. As Canada’s “Birthplace of Confederation,” there’s rich history to uncover at every turn, such as the vintage architecture on Victoria Row and St. Dunstan’s Basilica. Other wonderful ways to spend your day include visiting the tranquil parks, taking in the unmatched harborside beauty, or venturing over to Prince Edward Island National Park, the inspiration for Anne of Green Gables.
Day 8 : Scenic Cruising
Our day is filled with relaxation and scenic vistas as we cruise the Gulf of Saint Lawrence! Unwind in a personal lounger on one of the spacious decks, indulge in a savory meal, or take advantage of the included amenities and entertainment on board. In the afternoon, we gather for a private reception to socialize with fellow travelers.
Day 9 : Quebec City
This morning, we dock in charismatic Quebec City, right next to the historic district. This popular destination boasts French heritage and is North America’s only remaining walled city north of Mexico! Immerse yourself in its authentic European atmosphere as you stroll quaint cobblestone streets lined with cafes and shops, take the funicular ride up to Le Chateau Frontenac, or choose an optional shore excursion.
Day 10 : Montreal
We say goodbye to our floating home today, disembarking in Montreal. Known as the Cultural Capital of Canada, this gorgeous city offers dining, shopping, and history with a European flair. A local guide joins us for a tour of its most famous attractions, such as Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal. The afternoon is yours to explore historic Old Montreal as you wish. Later, we check in to our accommodations and gather for a special Farewell Dinner to celebrate our time together.
Day 11 : Fly Home
We return home today with incredible memories of our travel adventures.
