Depart the Midwest on a comfortable motorcoach and travel to New York City for two days featuring a guided city tour, sightseeing cruise, and Broadway musical. Begin our New England adventures in Boston, uncovering rich history on the Freedom Trail, visiting renowned museums, and reveling in an interactive Boston Tea Party experience. Learn about the somber witchcraft trials in Salem before admiring a well-preserved Shaker community in New Hampshire. In Vermont, witness how the state’s treasured maple syrup is made and tour the famous Trapp Family Lodge. Venture north to Alexandria Bay for a scenic 1000 Islands cruise, then cross over into Canada for viewing opportunities of powerful Niagara Falls before returning home. For guests from the Midwest, this trip begins close to home and requires no flights. Guests from other areas will fly into Chicago and enjoy an included overnight before boarding our comfortable motorcoach.

  • Day 1: Our Journey Begins
    Our exploration of scenic New England begins with a drive to South Bend, Indiana, where we spend the evening.
  • Day 2: Indiana, Ohio & Pennsylvania
    We continue our eastbound travels towards New York City and overnight in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. This evening, we get to know fellow travelers over a delicious Welcome Dinner, served in Pennsylvania Dutch tradition.

  • Day 3: New York City
    Today, we arrive in the Big Apple and check in for a two-night stay in a centrally located hotel, perfect for exploring the lively night scene or nearby attractions.

  • Day 4: City Tour & Broadway Musical
    Our day is spent exploring New York City, the illustrious centerpiece of American culture, entertainment, history, and economics. Relax on a sightseeing cruise that includes vistas of Ellis Island, One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, and the beautiful cityscape. Later, an expert local guide joins us for a driving tour of Manhattan’s most famous landmarks, such as Central Park, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and more. Tonight, we revel in the world-class entertainment and glamour of New York City’s Theater District at a Broadway musical.
  • Day 5: JFK Library
    We’re back on the road today, traveling through Connecticut and Rhode Island to Massachusetts. This afternoon, we visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum to become acquainted with the political career and family life of one of our country’s most remembered presidents. After checking in to our Boston accommodations, we enjoy an included dinner together.

  • Day 6: Boston Colonial History
    This morning, we embark on a guided tour of Boston’s Freedom Trail to see where signal lanterns ignited the American Revolution at Old North Church, plus Granary Burying Ground, Old Corner Bookstore, Paul Revere's home, and much more. Our tour ends at historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace with time to grab lunch at the largest and oldest food hall in the country, Quincy Market. Afterwards, we visit the USS Constitution Museum and hear about “Old Ironsides,” a 220-year-old naval frigate still floating in Boston’s harbor today. We then visit the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum to travel back in time to when the daring actions of the Sons of Liberty led to the birth of this nation. Revel in the opportunity to join a reenactment of the town meeting, storm the wharf to destroy the Crown’s tea aboard an authentic 18th-century replica vessel, and attend the award-winning, multi-sensory film Let It Begin Here.

  • Day 7: Salem & Canterbury Shaker Village
    A short trip north brings us to Salem for a guided city tour, including a stop at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. Our morning is spent seeing the city’s historic architecture, learning about its role in the American Revolution, and acquainting ourselves with its infamous 17th-century witch trials. This afternoon, we arrive in New Hampshire and see brilliant autumn colors within the hardwood forests. Receive a warm welcome at Canterbury Shaker Village, a living museum and National Historic Landmark with 25 original Shaker buildings, gardens, and mill ponds dedicated to preserving their 200-year legacy. Immerse yourself in this traditional community during a guided tour that offers fascinating insight into their way of life. Tonight, our accommodations and dinner are in Meredith.

  • Day 8: Franconia Notch & Sugar Shack
    We depart for Vermont this morning and drive across the renowned Franconia Notch pass, nestled within White Mountain National Forest. Enjoy stunning vistas of Mother Nature’s vibrant colors and have your camera ready for a photo stop. Upon arriving in Montpelier, there’s time at leisure to visit the Vermont State House, a Greek Revival-style capitol building, and grab lunch from one of the many wonderful eateries. Later, we visit Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks to learn about maple syrup production and taste the “liquid gold.”

  • Day 9: Vermont
    Our day begins with a visit to Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. This picturesque estate is where the Trapp family, famously known from The Sound of Music, settled after fleeing Europe in the 1940s. After a short documentary film about Maria von Trapp and an intriguing tour of the lodge, we savor an Austrian-inspired lunch buffet. Next, our journey continues to Cold Hollow Cider Mill in the quaint town of Waterbury. See how an apple press from the 1920s is still producing delicious ciders and regional favorites! Our day concludes with a sweet treat at Ben & Jerry’s factory. See the “ice cream graveyard” for retired flavors on a brief tour, then choose one of their world-famous flavors to indulge in. We return to Montpelier tonight.

  • Day 10: 1000 Islands Cruise
    This morning, we travel to Grand Isle and board a ferry to Cumberland Head, New York. Our travels continue to Alexandria Bay, where a relaxing cruise along the St. Lawrence River awaits. Soak up the breathtaking scenery and massive 19th-century homes along Millionaire’s Row as our guide shares the interesting history of the 1000 Islands resort area. Later, we settle into our accommodations in Alexandria Bay.

  • Day 11: Niagara Falls
    Today, we head north of the Finger Lakes and cross the border into Canada for sights of iconic Niagara Falls. Upon arrival, we visit Table Rock Complex and have free time for lunch or souvenir shopping. This evening, take in spectacular views of the powerful and expansive falls while enjoying an included dinner at the top of Skylon Tower. Then, witness the enchanting wonder of bright colors illuminating the cascading water.

  • Day 12: Scenic Drive to Michigan
    We begin our journey home today, driving through Ontario’s scenic farming region and crossing the border into Michigan. We check in to our accommodations in Kalamazoo, then celebrate our adventures with a Farewell Dinner.
