Pasadena Rose Parade

Be a part of America’s most extraordinary New Year’s Day celebration, a tradition that has been kept alive for over 135 years. What started in 1890 as a small festival to attract tourists to the charm of Pasadena, has since developed into a world-renowned event drawing in visitors from around the globe. The parade travels 5 ½ miles down Colorado Boulevard showcasing dancers, equestrian units, bands, and elaborate floral floats that are created with all-natural materials.

A guide takes us behind the scenes by tram through sets and soundstages from classic TV shows and movies such as Casablanca, Gilmore Girls, and Batman. Then, take an immersive look at how the magic of Hollywood happens in set design and post-production at Stage 48: Script to Screen. Re-enact a scene from Friends on the iconic Central Perk set, try flying on Harry Potter’s broomstick, or ride Batman’s motorcycle on the green screen set. We can also build our own costume at an interactive design station, or view authentic audition reels and headshots of familiar stars.

A local guide brings Hollywood’s unique history and culture to life. See where the biggest stars attend red carpet events at TCL’s Chinese Theatre and take pictures with the hand or footprints of major movie stars in the theatre’s courtyard entrance. Stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and find your favorite actor, then gaze up to the lush hillside for views of the iconic Hollywood sign atop Mount Lee.
