Savor a delicious dinner aboard the train and take in phenomenal views of the Alaska Mountain Range, plus abundant photo opportunities! Just prior to reaching Hurricane Gulch, we come within 50 miles of Mount Denali. Travel through Broad Pass and enjoy the scenic Nenana River canyon gorge, then cross under George Parks Highway at Windy Bridge, the highest highway bridge in Alaska at an impressive length of 215 feet. We continue to roll through part of the historic gold mining districts before arriving in historic Fairbanks.

Enjoy an immersive experience at Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey’s homestead to learn about the world of dog sledding. Tour the kennels, then feel the power of the mighty Alaskan husky during a 45-minute dog sled ride through pristinely snowcapped birch tree forests. While visiting an Iditarod checkpoint, hear how the sled dogs and mushers survive (and thrive!) during the famous 1,000-mile race through the Arctic. We may even meet some puppies!

Seek out a mesmerizing display of the northern lights in Fairbanks, one of the best regions on Earth to see this enchanting phenomenon. With its clear skies and optimal viewing location within the Aurora Oval, you can watch the night sky transform into an awe-inspiring canvas of swirling greens, purples, and reds. Plus, as the sun’s 11-year solar cycle approaches its peak activity, the aurora borealis will shine brighter than it has in a decade!

Attend this exciting celebration and important cultural moment in the Alaska Interior as locals say farewell to winter! The international event attracts volunteers from 46 countries and 100 teams, creating the world’s largest ice art sculpting competition. Marvel at how talented artists carve blocks of ice into one-of-a-kind creations, some up to 25 feet high! At night, the festival becomes a colorful winter wonderland illuminated with vibrant lights.

Nestled amidst the rugged beauty of Fairbanks, this museum offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of automobiles, showcasing a stunning collection of meticulously restored vintage vehicles from the late 19th century to the pre-World War II era.
