  • Day 1: Depart the USA
    Following our included flight to Los Angeles International Airport, we meet our Tour Director and board an Air New Zealand flight.
  • Day 2: Australia Bound
    We cross the International Date Line and lose a calendar day.
  • Day 3: Melbourne
    After a connecting flight in Auckland, we arrive in Melbourne. We clear customs and check in to our hotel in this charming Victorian capital city renowned for its lovely gardens. The remainder of the day is free to stroll Flinders Walk along the Yarra River, grab dinner from the nearby Queen Victoria Market, and rest up for the adventures ahead.
  • Day 4: City Tour & Leisure Afternoon
    After an included breakfast, we embark on a guided city tour of Melbourne with highlights like Fitzroy Gardens, Flinders Street Station, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Parliament House. Our next stop is the Royal Botanic Gardens, where we wander through over 8,500 species of plants. Next, enjoy a Welcome Lunch along the banks of the Yarra River before spending the remainder of the day at leisure.

  • Day 5: Yarra Valley & Penguin Parade
    This morning, we travel to De Bortoli Wine to sample wine and cheese in the picturesque Yarra Valley, one of Australia’s most famous wine-growing regions. Our delicious tastings continue at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery, where we learn how chocolatiers create over 150 different types of this sweet treat. Our afternoon is full of wildlife encounters! We first stop at Healesville Sanctuary, a bushland haven for more than 200 species of Australian birds, mammals, and reptiles. After dinner, our day concludes with witnessing the famous Penguin Parade near Summerland Beach on Phillip Island. While the sun sets over the glistening bay, enjoy up-close views of the world’s smallest penguins as they wander home to one of Australia’s largest colonies.

  • Day 6: Tasmania
    Our day begins with a flight to Hobart, where Tasmania's one-of-a-kind wild and untamed wonders await. We visit historic Richmond to take in the nostalgic charm of colonial days. Later, our travels continue to the stunning coastal city of Hobart for a tour and breathtaking views from Mount Wellington. This evening, we check in to our hotel for the next three nights and have dinner together.

  • Day 7: Eco-Cruise & Port Arthur
    Today kicks off with a spectacular eco-cruise along the rugged coastline of Tasman National Park. Gaze upon the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere, glide into deep-sea caves, and watch for playful dolphins, sun-basking seals, and various bird species. After an included lunch aboard the boat, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site to learn about its attempt to reform and rehabilitate while powerful stories of convicts, soldiers, and free settlers unfold before us.

  • Day 8: Tahune AirWalk
    This morning, we take our adventure to new heights at the Tahune AirWalk in the lush Huon Valley. Stroll high among the treetops on a steel walkway, then step onto the cantilever platform to see the river rushing 150 feet below! Next, we savor a locally inspired lunch with scenic views at the historic Kermandie Hotel before visiting the Wooden Boat Center to marvel at handcrafted marine masterpieces. The evening is at your leisure.

  • Day 9: Tropical Cairns
    After breakfast, we board a flight to Sydney before connecting to Cairns in Tropical North Queensland, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and many of Australia’s other natural wonders. Our five-star hotel is located near the waterfront and esplanade with everything you need for a leisurely afternoon, from on-site restaurants to a day spa.

  • Day 10: Kuranda Scenic Railway & Skyrail
    This morning, we enjoy one of the most spectacular rail excursions in the world: Kuranda Scenic Railway. Marvel at the glistening Coral Sea, ancient World Heritage rainforest, steep ravines, and picturesque waterfalls within Barron Gorge National Park. After an included lunch at Frogs Restaurant in the Heritage Markets, we visit the Kuranda Koala Gardens for an opportunity to pet a koala and hand-feed tamed kangaroos or wallabies. Our wildlife discoveries continue at Birdworld Kuranda, a natural habitat for over 60 native species including the endangered cassowary. We descend the Macalister Range on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, listening for the sounds of the sulfur-crested cockatoo as we glide over the dense forest canopy.

  • Day 11: Great Barrier Reef & Flightseeing
    We cross off the ultimate bucket list experience today – exploring one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World, the Great Barrier Reef! A scenic cruise brings us to Moore Reef, the outer edge of this impressive 1,200-mile-long living organism. Revel in the chance to snorkel and view the vibrant life beneath the surface from the reef viewer and glass-bottom boat. Then, take in breathtaking aerial sights on a helicopter flight.

    We board a morning flight to Sydney, Australia’s most vibrant city. After settling into our upscale accommodations for the next three nights, the remainder of the day is yours to explore or relax.

    Our day begins with a guided tour of the famous Sydney Opera House, known for its stunning and innovative architecture. This afternoon, we visit The Rocks, Sydney’s original city center and now an affluent district with beautifully restored buildings and picturesque harbor views. Enjoy time to grab lunch and stroll the quaint cobblestone pathways lined with diverse shops selling locally produced homewares, beauty products, photography, art, and jewelry. The evening is at your leisure.

  • Day 14: Harbor Cruise
    Today, we discover Sydney’s many interesting landmarks. Enjoy sights of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Hyde Park, Bondi Beach, and the famous Harbor Bridge, the longest single span bridge in the world. Our sightseeing continues with a cruise along the glistening harbor, sailing past pristine parks, golden beaches, and charming waterfront neighborhoods. This afternoon, we have lunch high above the city in Sydney Tower with panoramic views. Then, soak up time in Darling Harbor, the most popular destination for leisure and entertainment with more than 40 restaurants, cafes, museums, parks, theaters, and specialty shops.

  • Day 15: Christchurch, New Zealand
    We bid farewell to Australia this morning and fly to Christchurch, located on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island. After checking in to our hotel, we have a restful evening.
  • Day 16: Glacial Lakes & Southern Alps
    This morning, we travel into the fascinating patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains and into the foothills of the Southern Alps. Our first stop is the Church of the Good Shepherd, overlooking Lake Tekapo’s pristine waters. We then drive along Lake Pukaki’s turquoise glacial waters while enjoying the spectacular backdrop of Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak. Our scenic drive continues through the dramatic Lindis Pass and tussock-covered plains of Mackenzie Country to the Fruitlands of Central Otago, famous for its summer fruit production. Our memorable day concludes in Queenstown, where we check in to our hotel with views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range.

  • Day 17: Kiwi Park & Queenstown at Leisure
    We get a rare opportunity to meet New Zealand’s most iconic bird this morning at Kiwi Park! Our guide shares interesting details about this flightless bird while we view them in specially designed nocturnal houses. Next, stand in awe of bungee jumpers at the famous Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge before visiting Arrowtown, a historic gold mining settlement. Soak up the rest of the day at leisure in New Zealand’s adventure capital with jet boating, golf, charming walks, and plenty of restaurants and shops.

  • Day 18: Milford Sound Cruise
    Today, we travel into the ancient ice age region of Fiordland National Park. Our journey takes us along beech forests and Eglinton Valley to the Homer Tunnel before descending through the spectacular Cleddau Canyon, reaching our catamaran in Milford Sound. We cruise past Mitre Peak, rising over 5,500 feet, as well as the phenomenal Stirling and Bowen Falls that flow from valleys formed by receding glaciers. Watch for a variety of wildlife, such as sea lions and a variety of birds! Tonight, our accommodations are on the shores of Lake Te Anau with a backdrop of Mount Luxmore and the Murchison Mountains.

  • Day 19: Larnach Castle & Dunedin
    Following breakfast, we depart Te Anau and travel through some of New Zealand’s most populated sheep country. Arriving in Dunedin, known for its Scottish heritage and incredible architecture, we embark on a guided city tour to discover its most prominent attractions. See Speights Brewery, the University of Otago, the world’s steepest street, and the First Church of Otago. Afterwards, we visit the historic Larnach Castle and Gardens on the lovely Otago Peninsula. Explore its exciting and, at times, tragic history on a self-guided tour while admiring the magnificent carved ceilings, antiques, and wonderful views. Later, we return to Dunedin for a leisurely evening.

  • Day 20: Natures Wonders & Toitū Settlers Museum
    Today, we travel to Natures Wonders for an amazing wildlife experience. Climb aboard an all-terrain vehicle for a tour to see some of the world’s rarest penguins in their natural habitats, along with fur seals and albatross. Later, we visit the Toitū Otago Settlers Museum, dedicated to telling the story of the Dunedin people whose culture helped shape the surrounding area and New Zealand’s first great city. Tonight, we gather for a delicious dinner.

  • Day 21: Lake Taupo
    This morning, we fly to Rotorua on the North Island and drive to Taupo. Known for its namesake lake – the largest in New Zealand – this quaint town is home to award-winning attractions and gorgeous mountain vistas. After settling into our hotel, we gather for dinner at Vine Eatery and Bar, a local favorite.

  • Day 22: Orakei Korako & Māori Culture
    We begin our day with a visit to Orakei Korako, one of the most impressive geothermal areas in the world! Walk through the Hidden Valley to see silica terraces, boiling pools, geysers, and a geothermal cave. After lunch at leisure in Taupo’s town center, we cruise the Waikato River and gaze upon the cascading Huka Falls, New Zealand’s most visited natural wonder. Tonight, we enjoy an authentic Māori hangi feast with powerful songs and traditional dancing.

  • Day 23: Hobbiton™ & The Red Barn
    Today’s first adventure is at Alexander Sheep and Cattle Farm in Matamata, home to The Shire™ in Middle-earth™. As we drive through the 1,250-acre farm, soak up spectacular views of the Kaimai Range. Our guided tour of the Hobbiton™ movie set from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit includes beloved scenery like the Hobbit Holes™, The Green Dragon Inn™, and more. Next, we enjoy a special pasture-to-plate Farewell Lunch at The Red Barn, a dairy farm known for its local cuisine and hospitality. Later, we travel to Cambridge in the heart of rural Waikato and check in to our accommodations with an evening at leisure.

  • Day 24: Auckland
    This morning, we travel to SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium in Auckland to view the magical Seahorse Kingdom and the world’s largest sub-Antarctic penguin colony display, followed by an underwater journey to discover aquatic life up close. After an included lunch, we ascend the Sky Tower for unbeatable views from New Zealand’s tallest man-made structure. Later, we embark on a brief sightseeing tour of the city including America’s Cup Village, lively Queen Street, and the Harbor Bridge, before heading to the airport for our evening flight to Los Angeles. We gain a day when crossing the International Date Line, arriving in Los Angeles mid-afternoon with the rest of the day to relax.

    We board our flight home today, returning with extraordinary memories of our time in the South Pacific.
