Discover the beauty of Western Canada, featuring two renowned national parks, enriching agricultural highlights, and an overnight rail journey. Begin by uncovering the region’s culture and heritage at Calgary’s expansive living history museum, then travel to Banff, where a guided tour, historic lunch, and special Mountie meet and greet await. Our journey continues along Icefields Parkway for an opportunity to feel the powerful beauty of Athabasca Glacier up-close at the Columbia Icefield. Next, we board VIA Rail’s Canadian train for phenomenal views of the Canadian Rockies and decadent onboard service as we travel in comfortable Sleeper Plus cars for a top-class experience. Arriving in Vancouver, get a taste of award-winning wines at Lulu Island Winery and explore charming Steveston Village. The next day, we take a ferry to Vancouver Island for a stroll through The Butchart Gardens® and a guided city tour of vibrant Victoria, known for its British atmosphere. We also learn about farming life on the island during fascinating visits to a bison ranch and dairy farm. Our adventure concludes with a ferry ride to Washington State, where we drive along the Olympic Peninsula to Seattle for a wonderful Farewell Dinner.

  • Day 1: Fly to Western Canada
    Upon arriving in Calgary, we check in to our accommodations for a restful evening.
  • Day 2: Discover Calgary
    We begin our adventure with a step back in time at Canada’s largest living history museum: Heritage Park. Watch the country’s past come to life through interactive exhibits, costumed interpreters, historic buildings, and hundreds of working antiques. Our group also gathers for a delicious Welcome Lunch in this charming village, where we get acquainted with fellow travelers. Next, we journey through some of the world’s best natural scenery and settle in for two evenings in Banff.

  • Day 3: Banff
    Our day in Banff National Park starts with visiting a Mountie, a retired Canadian Mounted Police member, to hear stories from their years in service and learn about the “Red Serge” uniforms of scarlet tunics. Afterwards, we immerse ourselves in this unique mountain town with a panoramic tour of all that Banff has to offer and enjoy lunch at the grand Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, featuring incredible cuisine and breathtaking views. Later, a relaxing gondola ride takes us to the mountaintop for bird’s-eye views of the awe-inspiring landscape that surrounds us. The evening is at leisure.

  • Day 4: Columbia Icefield
    We venture into Jasper National Park today and see captivating vistas along Icefields Parkway. This beautiful area is famous for its many glacial blue lakes nestled among the mountains. Upon reaching the Columbia Icefield, we board a giant Ice Explorer and drive to a 10,000-year-old sheet of ice, known as Athabasca Glacier. Enjoy the unique experience of walking out onto this natural wonder and sipping fresh glacial water as we learn about its powerful history. Later, we travel to Jasper and check in to our accommodations for the evening.

  • Day 5: Ride the Rails
    All aboard! Today, we ride VIA Rail’s historic Canadian train to Vancouver in Sleeper Plus cars. Enjoy top-notch service and unforgettable experiences as you roll past soaring mountains, lush forests, and spectacular waterfronts in areas that are only accessible by rail. Select from a variety of chef-prepared gourmet meals to savor in the dining car and lounge comfortably in the skyline car’s dome section for outstanding views with windows extending to the ceiling.

  • Day 6: Vancouver
    Following breakfast on the train, we arrive in Vancouver. Surrounded by water on three sides and nestled along the Coast Mountain Range, this vibrant city is the largest in British Columbia. We board our motorcoach for a short drive to picturesque Lulu Island Winery in the suburban city of Richmond. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about their grape growing process and discover how they create award-winning wines before indulging in a tasting. Our next stop is Steveston Village, a quaint fishing village on the Fraser River. Take time to independently visit historical sites, shop for souvenirs, and grab lunch – such as fresh seafood. Later, we check in to our hotel with time to freshen up before dinner.

  • Day 7: The Butchart Gardens® & Victoria
    This morning, we board a ferry for Vancouver Island to visit The Butchart Gardens®, one of the most acclaimed horticultural exhibitions in the world. Stroll along pathways through themed gardens that are wonderfully landscaped, featuring seasonal floral displays and Ross Fountain, which plays water patterns every four minutes. Later, we arrive in enchanting Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia. A local guide joins us for a tour that includes fascinating insight into its rich British culture and views of historic sites, such as the Parliament Building on the Inner Harbor. Shops, cafes, and interesting attractions are just a stroll away from our accommodations, perfect for an evening at leisure.

  • Day 8: Bison Ranch & Dairy Farm
    Today, we embark on a Buffalo Safari Adventure at Morning Star Bison Ranch in Nanaimo. Get close to these majestic animals in a natural environment on a drive through the beautiful Cassidy Highlands as the owner shares how he raises them to produce the highest quality meat. Afterwards, our group enjoys lunch at nearby Top Notch Burgers, where there’s an opportunity to try a delicious bison burger sourced from the ranch! Later, we have an immersive farm visit at Silvermaple Holsteins. Hear how they focus on producing high-quality milk and breeding superior dairy cows, as well as the challenges they face as farmers on an island. The rest of the day is yours to browse charming shops or visit attractions, such as the Royal BC Museum or Craigdarroch Castle.

  • Day 9: Ferry to Washington
    This morning, we depart Victoria by ferry to cross the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the international border, arriving in Washington. A picturesque drive along the Olympic Peninsula then brings us into Seattle for the evening. Tonight, we enjoy a Farewell Dinner to celebrate our agricultural adventures through the Canadian Rockies and Western Canada.

  • Day 10: Fly Home
    We bid farewell to Canada and our new friends as we depart for the airport.
