Day 1 : Fly to Washington, D.C.
Today we begin our historic adventure with a flight to Washington, D.C., our home for the next five nights.
Day 2 : Our National Monuments
This morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before an expert local guide joins us to share the city’s incredible history during an educational driving tour. We view the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, inspired by his famous I Have A Dream speech; the Washington Monument, an iconic marble obelisk that defines the city skyline; and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, a testament to one of the country’s most beloved presidents. Our afternoon tour features the Jefferson Memorial, a symbol of liberty, and the Lincoln Memorial which overlooks the National Mall reflecting pool, the site of defining moments in the country’s history.
Day 3 : Memorial Visits
Today we have another fascinating day of touring. We remember the brave heroes of our nation’s history with visits to the Korean War Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. In addition to its granite memorial wall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial also includes The Three Soldiers statue, a striking tribute to the diversity of America’s forces in Vietnam, and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial. Enjoy lunch followed by free time at Union Station with more touring to follow.
Day 4 : Mount Vernon
Enjoy a relaxing morning before we venture out of the capital city to neighboring Virginia. Surrounded by colonial charm, we dine at the historic Mount Vernon Inn. Later, we tour the mansion house and have time to explore the estate of George and Martha Washington. After learning about the life and times of the Father of our Country, we return to D.C. for an evening at leisure.
Day 5 : The Smithsonian
Visit the world-renowned Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex, featuring 21 museums and galleries. We explore the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, which features hangars displaying thousands of aviation and space artifacts. Learn about human space flight, World War II aviation, vertical flight, and more. The Natural History Museum showcases exhibits ranging from the earliest humans to modern mammals, and the American History Museum is devoted to the cultural, social, and political development of our country. This evening, we enjoy a Holiday Vacations Farewell Dinner followed by an evening illumination drive of the capitol and monuments.
Day 6 : Arlington Cemetery
Today we visit Arlington National Cemetery to pay our respects. View the Kennedy gravesites, witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and see the memorial honoring members of the Challenger crew. We then board our flights home with lifelong memories of our time in our nation’s capital.

After lunch together, we drive by Embassy Row and continue our tour at the National Mall, where our guide details the defining moments in our country’s history that occurred here. See the Lincoln Memorial, which overlooks the reflecting pool, and the Washington Monument, a stunning marble obelisk that soars over 550 feet above the city skyline. The evening is at your leisure.
We’re reunited with our local guide this morning for another spectacular day of exploring the city. This afternoon, enjoy lunch on your own at Union Station, then spend the remainder of the day exploring individual interests.

We also browse exhibits at The National Museum of Natural History, ranging from the earliest humans to modern mammals, and the National Museum of American History, which is devoted to the cultural, social, and political development of our country. This evening, we celebrate our adventures with a Farewell Dinner, followed by an evening illumination drive past the U.S. Capitol and treasured monuments.
